1: # REVIVE COMMUNITY ARTS
2: Community Arts and Cultural Development (CACD) is relational infrastructure that enables the REVIVE National Cultural Policy’s vision of — a place for every story, a story for every place — to be realised in practice.
3: Through long-term, place-based, and accessible creative processes and cultural practices,
CACD contributes to:
-vibrant and rich cultures
-healthy, safe, equitable, and responsive communities
-a stronger democracy
-sustainable environments
-dynamic and resilient local economies
4: BUT… despite its national reach and proven impacts, CACD is under-recognised and under-resourced.
Within Creative Australia, CACD receives 5-6% of the total national arts investment.
5: The Australian Government is currently “developing a new National Cultural Policy to shape the future direction of the creative and cultural sector”
WE’RE CALLING FOR:
6: Formal Recognition of CACD within the new Cultural Policy as a distinct and essential field of creative practice.
7: 2. A National CACD Entity Within Creative Australia to support, advocate for, develop, connect, and safeguard CACD.
8: 3. Increased Investment in place-based arts and culture with, by, and for communities.
9: 4. Practice Sustainability for CACD practitioners – including the next generation of community artists, facilitators, producers, and organisers.
10: 5. Reform to Funding Models to shift away from short-term project funding towards long-term investment in CACD.
11: 6. CACD to become a cross-government delivery mechanism used in health, education, social services, justice, environmental protection, climate adaptation, disaster preparedness and recovery, and regional development.
12: 7. Deeper Research & Evaluation to further understand, capture, and promote CACD’s impact.
13: 8. Equitable Access to resources, funding, opportunities, and participation in CACD across the continent.
14: HAVE YOUR SAY!
