Who is behind #revivecommunityarts and what is it?
#Revivecommunityarts is a campaign by an alliance of CACD organisations and independent practitioners (full list here) from across Australia.
Since the Federal Government’s Office for the Arts is currently calling for submissions to help inform a new National Cultural Policy, we’re encouraging people to make a submission, and to join us in advocating for CACD (Community Arts and Cultural Development).
How did it start?
At the end of April, 2026, most of the CACD organisations currently funded by Creative Australia, plus some of Creative Australia’s CACD award recipients, got together to connect, reflect on the current state of CACD, and discuss what is needed to ensure CACD can continue to benefit communities across the continent into the future. We collaborated on a Statement and Recommendations which each organisation will use to inform their own submission to the Government.
We’re sharing our statement and recommendations with the sector, our communities, artists, audiences, and friends, in the hope it will inspire and inform more people to have their say and call for increased recognition and resourcing of CACD.
Support for the campaign is growing, with a number of organisations and individuals sharing the recommendations, and adding their name to the list of supporters. If you’d like, you can add your name here.
